Public health preparedness took center stage during the 2nd Quarter Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Committee Meeting, as health and disaster officials tackled key measures in managing regional risks.

The Department of Health - Zamboanga Peninsula Center for Health Development (DOH-ZPCHD) provided updates on the current status of mpox (monkeypox) cases in the region. In its report, the agency underscored intensified efforts to curb possible transmission through strengthened disease surveillance, public information drives, and close coordination with local government units (LGUs).

These initiatives form part of a broader disaster risk reduction strategy, aimed at enhancing the region's readiness against health emergencies and other crises.
