Mindanao, Philippines — The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has issued a weather advisory warning of light to moderate rains expected to affect a large portion of Mindanao over the next two to three hours.

According to the advisory, areas that may experience light to moderate rainfall include Misamis Oriental (including Cagayan de Oro City), Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga Sibugay, Zamboanga del Sur, Misamis Occidental, Lanao del Norte, Lanao del Sur, Maguindanao del Norte, Davao Occidental, Davao Oriental (including Mati City), Sarangani, South Cotabato (particularly General Santos City), Sultan Kudarat, Bukidnon, Surigao del Norte, Dinagat Islands, and Davao del Sur (particularly Santa Cruz).

Meanwhile, moderate to occasionally heavy rains are currently affecting the provinces of Camiguin, northern parts of Misamis Oriental, expanded areas of Zamboanga Peninsula (including Zamboanga City), Cotabato City, central and northern municipalities of Maguindanao del Norte, North Cotabato, as well as the island provinces of Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi.

PAGASA cautions that the rainfall may persist within the next 2 to 3 hours and could extend to nearby areas. The public is advised to remain vigilant, as continuous or heavy rainfall may result in localized flooding and landslides, especially in low-lying and mountainous regions.

Residents are urged to monitor official weather updates and advisories from PAGASA and local disaster risk reduction management offices.
