The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) clarified that flight operations at Pagadian Airport remained uninterrupted following a runway incursion incident on Saturday, August 16, 2025, around 12:15 p.m.

According to initial reports, the incident occurred during a hot pursuit operation involving barangay officials chasing a suspect allegedly linked to drug-related offenses. The chase began in Barangay Muricay and ended when the suspect breached the airport’s perimeter fence, gaining access to the airside area of Runway 20.

Authorities said the suspect was immediately subdued on the runway strip. Both the individual and the pursuing barangay tanods were escorted out of the restricted zone. The suspect was later turned over to the Pagadian City Police for proper disposition.

CAAP assured the public that no flights were disrupted and that no damage was reported to airport facilities or equipment.
