“All systems go” for the first-ever Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) parliamentary elections.

This assurance was made following the conduct of an inaugural media orientation led by the Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation and Unity (OPAPRU), in partnership with the Presidential Task Force on Media Security (PTFoMS), held recently in Cotabato City.

The orientation highlighted the provisions of the Bangsamoro Electoral Code, the 12-Point Priority Agenda of interim Chief Minister Abdulraof Macacua, and BARMM’s accomplishments in infrastructure, education, and health sectors.

According to Atty. Teopisto Elnas Jr., Executive Director of the Commission on Elections (COMELEC)-BARMM Project Management Office, voter registration in the final 10 days reached 2.8 million, with youth voters comprising 70 percent of the total registrants.

PTFoMS Undersecretary Jose Torres, meanwhile, emphasized the guidelines for safe and responsible media coverage anchored on the ethical practice of journalism.

OPAPRU and PTFoMS are set to hold similar orientations in Zamboanga City, Cagayan de Oro, and Metro Manila in preparation for the BARMM elections scheduled on October 13.
