The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) announced that a total of 629 overseas Filipinos (OFs) who fell victim to human trafficking have been successfully rescued and repatriated since January 2025. The cases involved victims from Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, and Thailand.

According to DFA spokesperson Angelica Escalona, Philippine embassies in the said countries continue to coordinate closely with local authorities to facilitate immediate rescue operations for affected Filipinos.

Escalona added that once victims are rescued, their repatriation to the Philippines is carried out without delay.

In addition to those already repatriated, the DFA reported 148 pending cases of trafficking victims currently under processing, which are expected to be resolved in the coming months.

The DFA assured the public that intensified efforts against human trafficking will continue as part of its mandate to safeguard the rights and welfare of Filipinos overseas.
