TUBA, BENGUET — President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. on Sunday joined Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong in inspecting the damage caused by a landslide at the ₱260-million rockshed project in Camp 4.

The President expressed disappointment after finding that the slope protection structure, which was intended to secure the area, collapsed almost immediately, leaving the costly project ineffective.

“The project that was supposed to take care of this cost us ₱260 million, more or less. The ₱260 million that the government spent for this project had no effect whatsoever in protecting the slope. It was as if nothing was done,” Marcos said during the inspection.

The Chief Executive stressed the need to hold accountable those responsible for the substandard construction, adding that such failures not only waste public funds but also put communities at greater risk during natural calamities.
