DSWD Suspends Subic Children’s Home over Alleged Abuse, Irregularities

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has ordered the immediate suspension of operations at the Subic Bay Children’s Home, Inc. (SBCHI) following allegations of abuse and regulatory violations.

DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian announced that a Cease and Desist Order has been issued against the facility after reports of physical and sexual abuse, unauthorized public solicitation, and mismanagement of funds. The facility also allegedly failed to comply with registration, licensing, and accreditation standards required by the agency.

The suspension will last up to 30 days to allow for a thorough investigation. During this period, the DSWD will oversee corrective measures and assess the facility’s compliance with social welfare regulations.

“All care facilities under the Social Welfare and Development Agency (SWDA) will be subject to strict monitoring before registration, licensing, and accreditation are granted,” Secretary Gatchalian said.

The rescued children from SBCHI are now under the care and protection of the DSWD, ensuring their immediate safety while the investigation proceeds.
