Beginning September 11, Filipinos will only need to dial 911 for any emergency, as the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) rolls out a nationwide unified hotline system.

The initiative replaces more than 30 separate emergency numbers with a single network linking the Philippine National Police, Bureau of Fire Protection, Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, and local governments. Officials said the move addresses long-standing problems with fragmented hotlines that often left callers confused and response times uneven.

“Unified 911 should not just be a hotline. It is a lifeline,” said DILG Secretary Jonvic Remulla. “Every second matters, every call matters, every life matters. This is government fulfilling its promise that help will always be within reach.”

The service will operate free of charge, 24/7, and will accommodate major Philippine languages, including Tagalog, Cebuano, Ilocano, Waray, and Tausug. The target response time is five minutes, with trained operators assuring callers that “help is on the way.”

According to the DILG, the system is not merely a technical reform but a key measure under President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s Bagong Pilipinas agenda, aimed at strengthening public safety and building safer communities.

With Unified 911, officials said Filipinos can expect faster, more coordinated emergency response in their homes, on the streets, and across every barangay.
