Buy-Bust Operation Leads to Arrest in Maimbung, Sulu

Authorities arrested a 52-year-old man, identified only as “Ali,” during a buy-bust operation in Sitio Tula-Tula, Barangay Kandang, Maimbung, Sulu.

Police said the suspect, a resident of Barangay Patao, Maimbung, was apprehended for violating Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

The operation was carried out by a joint team from the Maimbung Municipal Police Station led by PCPT Elmer C. Espaldon, along with personnel from the 1401st B, RMFB 14-B under PCPT Franklin G. Amistoso, the 3rd MP, 1st PMFC, PIU-Sulu PPO, and the PDEA BARMM Sulu PPO.

Confiscated from the suspect were 12 small plastic straws containing suspected shabu weighing around 1.2 grams with an estimated value of ₱8,160; another small plastic straw of suspected shabu weighing 0.05 grams worth ₱340 as the buy-bust item; one marked ₱100 bill; ₱655 in cash believed to be proceeds from illegal drug transactions; a brown wallet; a small black sling bag; and other pieces of evidence.

Authorities stressed that the operation is part of ongoing efforts to curb illegal drug activities in the province.
