Firearms and Explosives of Communist Terrorist Group Recovered in Albay

Joint police and military forces successfully recovered several firearms and explosives believed to belong to members of the Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) during an operation conducted in Barangay Ogob, Malinao, Albay, on Saturday, September 6, 2025, from 2:30 p.m. to 4:20 p.m.

According to the Albay Police Provincial Office, the operation stemmed from intelligence provided by an action agent identified only as alias “Sain” from the 93SAC. The informant relayed details about weapons and explosives allegedly left behind by remnants of KLG1, SRC5, and BRPC.

Authorities recovered one shotgun with no serial number, two improvised explosive devices (IEDs), one rifle grenade launcher, 31 linked 7.62mm rounds, five shotgun shells, one rifle grenade case, two 5.56mm rifle magazines, two CTG flags, a bandolier, and a black bucket belonging to the communist group.

Police Colonel Noel Nuñez, Provincial Director of the Albay Police Provincial Office, emphasized that the recovery of these weapons demonstrates the effectiveness of continued cooperation among the police, military, and local communities in combating insurgency.
