Sotto takes oath as new Senate President

Senator Vicente “Tito” Sotto III has officially assumed the role of Senate President following a leadership shake-up during Plenary Session #17 of the Philippine Senate.

Sotto took his oath of office after former Senate President Chiz Escudero was unseated in a vote participated in by 15 senators. The development marks Sotto’s return to the chamber’s top leadership post, a position he had previously held.

The change in Senate leadership is expected to have significant implications for the chamber’s legislative agenda in the coming months. Meanwhile, Escudero has yet to issue a statement regarding his removal.
