Zamboanga del Sur Marks 73rd Founding Anniversary with Ceremonial Kickoff

The province officially commenced its 73rd founding anniversary celebration on Friday with a ceremonial kickoff program led by Governor Divina Grace Yu. This year’s celebration carries the theme “Honoring the Past, Shaping the Future.”

Joining the governor were Representatives Joseph Kim Yu, Victoria Yu, and Maria Kristina Glepa, along with Vice Governor Roseller Ariosa, members of the Provincial Board, national government agencies, Pagadian City Councilors, municipal mayors, and local officials. Their presence highlighted the unity and collective pride of the province in commemorating more than seven decades of history and progress.

The opening program also signaled the start of various activities lined up for the weeklong celebration, including the Megayon Festival, which showcases the rich cultural heritage and traditions of the tri-people communities Christians, Muslims, and Subanen living in harmony in the province.

Governor Yu emphasized that the anniversary is not only a time to celebrate milestones but also a reminder to strengthen partnerships among government leaders, communities, and stakeholders in shaping a brighter future for Zamboanga del Sur.

The 73rd Araw ng Zamboanga del Sur will feature cultural presentations, sports competitions, civic activities, and community programs aimed at promoting unity, development, and pride in the province’s identity.
