Zamboanga Peninsula Elections Declared Generally Peaceful — PRO9

The 2025 National and Local Elections across the Zamboanga Peninsula were generally peaceful, according to the Police Regional Office 9 (PRO-9). This was confirmed by PRO-9 Regional Director, Police Brigadier General Roel Rodolfo, in a statement released to the media on Tuesday.

Despite a number of minor incidents recorded in the region, PBGen. Rodolfo assured the public that all were promptly addressed and resolved by law enforcement authorities.

Based on PRO-9’s official report, three suspected cases of vote-buying and several violations of the nationwide gun ban were documented during the election period. Investigations are already underway for these cases to determine accountability and pursue necessary legal actions.

Meanwhile, police reported that polling centers across the provinces of Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga del Sur, Zamboanga Sibugay, and Zamboanga City remained orderly, with no major disruptions or security threats affecting the conduct of the elections.

To ensure the safety and security of voters and election workers, more than 7,000 police personnel were deployed throughout the region. The deployment included critical and high-risk areas identified by the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) and other security agencies.

“We are grateful to the people of Zamboanga Peninsula for their cooperation and discipline. Their support greatly contributed to the peaceful and successful conduct of the elections,” PBGen. Rodolfo said.

PRO-9 also commended local election officers, volunteers, and security forces for their dedication and professionalism throughout the election period.

The police force remains on heightened alert as canvassing and post-election activities continue in various areas. Authorities vowed to maintain their presence and vigilance until the entire electoral process is completed.
