ZAMBOANGA CITY — In a move that underscores the administration’s commitment to inclusive and responsive governance, Vice President Sara Z. Duterte officially launched the Western Mindanao Satellite Office of the Office of the Vice President (OVP) on May 21, 2025, in Zamboanga City.

Located along Veterans Avenue Extension in Barangay Tetuan, the newly inaugurated satellite office is the latest addition to the OVP’s regional expansion designed to bring public services closer to underserved communities in the Zamboanga Peninsula and nearby provinces.

“Our mission has always been clear: to find solutions, act swiftly, and reach those who need government services the most,” said Vice President Duterte during the inauguration. “Kaisa po ninyo ako sa Mindanao laging mag-iisip, hahanap, at gagawa ng solusyon.”

The office will serve as a local hub for a range of OVP programs such as medical and burial assistance, crisis response, and small business support under the flagship “MagNegosyo ‘Ta Day” livelihood initiative. Thousands of Mindanaoan families have already benefited from these programs through existing OVP satellite offices in other parts of the country.

The opening ceremony was attended by local officials, community leaders, civil society groups, and residents who welcomed the move as a significant step toward decentralizing national services.

Zamboanga City Mayor John Dalipe expressed gratitude to the Vice President, saying, “This new OVP office will play a vital role in delivering timely and compassionate service to our people. It’s a testament to the Vice President’s love for Mindanao.”

The Western Mindanao office is part of a broader strategy launched by VP Duterte to ensure that essential government support is not confined to Metro Manila but is equitably distributed across regions. The Vice President’s Mindanao roots and deep understanding of the region’s challenges continue to shape the OVP’s development approach.

With this latest expansion, the Office of the Vice President reaffirms its vision of a government that listens, acts, and uplifts especially in regions where help is often delayed or denied.
